Northrop Grumman to Provide EyeDrive Mini-Robot to U.S. Customers

Northrop Grumman has signed an agreement with ODF Optronics Ltd to be the exclusive worldwide manufacturer and sole provider of ODF’s EyeDrive™, a small unmanned ground vehicle (SUGV), for the North American sector through its subsidiary Remotec, based in Clinton, Tenn.

EyeDrive is an observation and surveillance remote-controlled mini-robot that provides continuous real-time 360° audio and video surveillance. It includes a unique touch screen operator control unit featuring ODF’s proprietary Point ´n Go™ navigation. This innovative system allows the user to simply touch a location on the control unit’s panoramic view to direct the robot, making deployment intuitive and easy. At about five pounds, EyeDrive can be easily carried, deployed and controlled by a single operator.

EyeBall™ R1 Helps Save Life

ODF Optronics is proud to report that its world-famous EyeBall™ R1 360° wireless sensor for field surveillance has been utilized by The Ohio Metro SWAT during a recent hostage rescue to save a young boy’s life.
The boy’s father killed his mother and then took him hostage in the basement of the residence. The tactical team dropped the EyeBall sensor down the laundry shoot attached to a string and was able to verify separation of the suspect from the victim prior to launching the rescue attempt.  According to the officers at the scene, without the intelligence received from the EyeBall R1 system they may not have had succeeded in shooting the suspect in time.
