Announces Eye Ball™ R1, A "Tossable" Surveillance Device That Delivers Critical Audio/Video Visibility Into Siege, Hazardous Situations; Provides Real-Time Insight To Save Lives .

Remington Arms Company, Inc., today announced Remington Technologies Division, a new operating unit that will deliver differentiated public safety and security technology solutions. Remington Technologies Division will position the established, 188-year-old law enforcement armaments market leader to offer an innovative line of leading-edge technology solutions to support changing law enforcement and homeland security requirements.

In a concurrent announcement, Remington Technologies Division unveiled the Eye Ball™ R1 (Eye Ball™), a "tossable" audio/video surveillance device. The Eye Ball™ is a wireless, baseball-sized device with real-time audio and video that rotates to provide a 360-degree visibility of an environment. Law enforcement officers can roll, toss, or drop the ruggedized Eye Ball™ into virtually any hazardous situation - providing the immediate visibility required for users to make safe, intelligent decisions in dangerous environments.

Once deployed, the Eye Ball™ captures and transmits real-time audio and video to the Eye Ball™'s Personal Display Unit (PDU). In addition to serving as a wireless receiver, the easy-to-use PDU enables users to direct the Eye Ball™ with precision, focusing the video camera throughout the Eye Ball™'s 360-degree viewing area. The PDU also activates the Eye Ball™'s near-infrared "night vision" for dark operations. The Eye Ball™ streams audio and video up to 200 yards away from the PDU.

"With 180 years of experience supporting public safety, the Remington name is synonymous with reliability and dependability," said Tommy Millner, chief executive officer, Remington Arms Company Inc. "Our products are deployed in more than 80 percent of all police cruisers in America . The challenges facing law enforcement professionals are changing - and Remington is committed to providing new technology solutions that empower officers and strengthen public safety. Look for a new line of innovative technology products from the Remington Technologies Division."

"The dangers associated with a siege situation are magnified by unknown critical variables such as the number of perpetrators and hostages, their locations, and onsite weaponry," said Sam Page, sheriff, Rockingham County Sheriff's Office in Rockingham County , North Carolina . "The ability to see inside a situation changes the dynamics, tilting the balance of power toward law enforcement. The Remington Eye Ball™ provides users with important scout capabilities to define the parameters of a situation and create a clearer and safer path to resolution."
